The modding community has one common goal, which is to make Skyrim a better place. Releasing this powerful tool to the public means that millions of fans will be capable of making their creative ideas into reality which leads me to my next point, the community. What it does is said in the name it is a vital tool that is released sometime after the game, which allows users to create their own mods in Skyrim. No mod would be possible without the use of Bethesda’s Creation Kit. Manage your load order with the build in LOOT (Load Order Optimization Tool) in Mod Organizer to stabilize your game and prevent those CTDs, then you are good to go. Then go to your mod manager and select install next time your start up your game the mod will be installed. Downloading a mod is simple go to the nexus page, find the mod you want, read its description and select the “download with manager” button. This manager is a much more customizable than the more widely used Nexus Mod Manager and it allows for better control of which mods overwrite others. There are many mod managers out there but my preference has to be Mod Organizer. A mod manager makes this process as easy as the click of a button. There are so many things that can go wrong during the installation of a mod which can lead to CTDs (Crash To Desktop) or infinite loading screens in your game, just to name a couple. Installing hundreds of mods is going to be close to impossible without a mod manager. Don’t believe me? Then take a look for yourself in this video by IZUNIY you will be glad you did so.
This ENB, when paired with texture mods, including the parallax texture mods, can make your jaw drop at how stunningly beautiful your game is and how different it feels when compared to vanilla. There are many different ENBs on the nexus mod page but my favorite is Realvision ENB by SkyrimTuner. This is a mod which alters the shadow and graphical effects of your game to add a distinct look and feel to your game. The next largest change you can make to your Skyrim is adding an ENB preset. An example of this is shown in FKPX3118’s mod called 4K Parallax Treebark with the picture below keep in mind that this is still in Skyrim and not real life. Parallax mapping is a visual effect which is used to give a texture the illusion of 3D depth. Texture mods come in all qualities but the most impressive have to be the newer parallax textures.
Visually, the two main mods that can be used to really improve Skyrim’s already beautiful landscapes are texture mods and an ENB.
